Trail & Hike Description

The trail begins by desending into a Ponderosa Pine Valley for about 1/2 a mile then begins a roller coaster set of ups and downs as it circles the end of a saddle. Always keep the Stone CAIRNS in sight and you'll never get off the trail. At approx. 1.2 miles you'll come to a "T" intersection with a Large Stone Cairn with a Post, turn right. At approx. mile 1.35 you'll come to another "T" intersection of the Soldier's Pass (left) and Cibola Pass (right). Turn right and continue on Cibola Pass Trail. This will actually take you out of the County Trail System and into the National Forest wilderness area for half a mile. Two things to NOTE: 1. When you enter the Wilderness area you'll lose the Stone Cairns marking the path for half a mile. 2. This will be a pretty steep climb up and over the ridge through the pass. Once on the other side of the pass and you'll enter the County again and spot the Stone Cairns. Follow these back to the parking lot.
